How about shifting your focus from perfection to progress
In a world that inundates us with unattainable standards of perfection, it's easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and feeling inadequate. However, the reality is that perfection is an impossible goal that often results in disappointment and insecurity. Instead of fixating on being perfect, why not focus on acknowledging and celebrating your personal growth and achievements?
Ralph Marston. supports my statement above he said “You were not born to be perfect. You were born to be real.” So let’s not fall into the addictive society belief system about perfection just to avoid or minimize the painful feelings of shame, judgment, and blame instead let’s encourage self-acceptance and being true to oneself.
So how can we shift our focus from perfection to progress? Here are two simple, yet practical applications to help you do just that:
Embrace and celebrate your imperfections
Instead of hiding your flaws or stressing about them, embrace them as a part of what makes you unique. Remember that it's okay to be imperfect yet it is important to know that you are here to become better at whatever you do and whoever you are showing up as. You are here to share your unique self and grow from accepting and learning from your mistakes to become the best version of yourself and share your unique self with the world.
Set realistic goals
Instead of setting yourself up for failure by aiming for perfection, focus on setting realistic and achievable goals. Break down your larger goals into smaller, manageable bites and celebrate each step as progress towards your ultimate goal.
Be kind to yourself and treat yourself with the same love and compassion that you would offer a friend as you keep moving through the process of achieving your small goals. Remember that you are doing the best you can with the resources and knowledge you have now, and that's something to be proud of.
I promised you that by shifting your focus from perfection to progress, you'll find a sense of freedom and joy in your evolution of becoming who you are here to be “a light, an example to inspire others to do the same.”
Remember, it's not about reaching some unattainable human perfection according to society's standards, but about growing and evolving into the best version of who you are here to be.
